Back in September 2012, Apple launched the latest instalment of its iconic smartphones series, the iPhone 5. The device remains one of the most popular smartphone models on the market, and like its predecessors is renowned for its versatility although this device has also gained a reputation as one of the most impressive camera phones on the market.
The Apple iPhone 5 is equipped with an 8 megapixel camera, which is no doubt the most advanced to date from the California based manufacturer. It includes an led flash and 1080p video capture along with a whole host of image enhancing capabilities and software applications. However, the follow up device which is rumoured to be the iPhone 5S is likely to include a 12 megapixel camera, GSM Arena reports.
GSM Arena has reported that an unnamed source at Apple’s manufacturing partner which is responsible for supplying the company with its camera components has made this claim, and also suggests that the 12 megapixel camera will include HDR support and improved low lighting video capture capabilities. While the iPhone 5S has not been officially announced by Apple, this has not stopped speculation about its features. A 12 megapixel camera certainly seems like a feasible addition, as Apple will no doubt be keen to compete with recently launched Android devices from manufacturers like Sony, HTC and Samsung, which sport vastly improved cameras over that of the iPhone 5.
Because Apple has not yet officially announced the iPhone 5, information about its features is not widely available, but speculation from a number of sources has suggested that the device is likely to include a larger touchscreen, more processing power, higher levels of internal storage and even a fingerprint scanner.
